Texas Renaissance Festival offering free COVID tests

The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) will be providing free COVID-19 testing options for staff, participants, and patrons this season at the Texas Renaissance Festival.

“We are extremely grateful to the TDEM, Grimes County Emergency Management, and the City of Todd Mission for their support in making this happen as this was an important option we wanted to have available,” the festival said in a news release.
Testing will be the oral swab, with results within 24-48 hours.
Those with a negative test will receive an email or text. Positive results will be delivered via phone. Guests should have accurate contact information when they arrive.
The tests onsite will be conducted at shop 166, located outside the front gates, all 19 days of the festival run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. No appointment is needed, but identification is necessary.
The testing is free, even for those who do not carry health insurance.

Disposable face masks for patrons

Visitors to the festival will be required to wear face coverings. The state, through the TDEM, made a sizable donation of disposable face masks to TRF, which will be provided free to patrons in the event they do not arrive with a mask.
