In a mildly high-scoring affair in the six-man realm of competition, Faith Academy's Nathan Figueroa left his impact all over last week's game against Fort Bend Homeschool Association although the Knights fell, 42-36.
Maury Cano got Faith Academy on the board with a 4-yard rush in the first although the point-after try failed and so the visiting Chargers held a 1-point lead. Blaze Byler ripped off a 44-yard rush to the house before the end of the first with Figueroa knocking through the PAT for a 14-13 lead for the Knights.
Fort Bend scored the only touchdown in the second but Kaleb Shepherd returned the second-half kickoff 50 yards for a touchdown and the ensuing Figueroa kick put Faith Academy in front, 22-20.
Jacob Henderson connected with Figueroa on a 27-yard pitch and catch although that was in between Chargers' scores where the visitors took a 36-29 lead after three quarters of play.
Byler added a 5-yard touchdown and Shepherd ran in the PAT to tie the score at 36 but another Fort Bend score late in the game sealed a win, 42-36, to drop the Knights below .500 at 3-4 overall.
Figueroa ended with three receptions for 94 yards and the score while adding 11 tackles on defense to be named the player of the game.
This week, Faith Academy will square off with Orange Community Christian in District 4-1A play where the winner will be guaranteed a playoff spot. In next week's regular season finale, the Knights will travel to Baytown Christian with a final shot at the postseason on the line.
