The Texas chapter of the Associated Press Sports Editors released their all-state teams ahead of the state championships that were played at AT&T Stadium in Dallas.

Although Bellville had only one representative, district-mates of Sealy, Brazos and the Brahmas’ were recognized as some of the best at their positions in the state.

Dalton Bills earned an honorable mention nod from the defensive line in helping Bellville to a ninth straight postseason and a third-round berth for the fourth time in the last five years.

Also representing District 12-4A-D2 was Coltin Whitaker from the La Grange Leopards who earned a spot as a second-team defensive lineman.

The Needville Blue Jays, winners of Sealy’s District 13-4A-D1, had their lone representative earn a second-team roster spot and the third-place El Campo Ricebirds had five honorable mentions.

Needville running back and Princeton commit Ashton Stredick took home district MVP honors and added second-team all-state running back to the list before shipping up to New Jersey to play for the Tigers. He closed his career with a 3,105-yard, 38-total-touchdown performance for the Blue Jays who fell to the Lampasas Badgers in the third round.

Five Ricebirds cracked the honorable mentions list at four different positions following El Campo’s two playoff wins: Devon Earls and Cole Riha on the offensive line, Johntre Davis at running back, Dontavian Bluntson on the defensive line, and Charles Shorter in the defensive backfield.

On the lower-classification stage, the Shiner Comanches took home the crown from Brazos’ District 15-2A-D1 and landed four on the all-state lists between a second-teamer and three honorable mentions.

Offensive lineman Brock Sestak was awarded the second-team honor and Gage Brooks (offensive line), Donyai Taylor (running back) and Doug Brooks (defense) were all honorable mentions after helping Shiner go three rounds deep, ultimately falling to the state champion Refugio Bobcats 45-43.

For the second-place Weimar Wildcats, a pair of defenders collected second-team distinctions for their 10-2 campaign; senior Vicente Cabrera (linebacker) and sophomore Jose Ramirez (defensive back).
